The Two Kingdoms
What if every choice you make is a deposit into one of two futures?
The Thesis
Christianity describes two kingdoms moving in opposite directions through the same human material. One borrows from the future to fund the present. The other sacrifices in the present to build the future.
Two Directions
The kingdom of degeneration begins with a lie and ends in death. The kingdom of regeneration begins with truth and ends in life.
The difference is not the raw material. The same human being, the same city, the same century can travel either arc.
The Same Material
Sin is not a different species. It is the same species moving in the wrong direction. Repentance, at its root, is a change of direction.
This is why morality is not first about position but about trajectory. You are always moving toward one kingdom or the other.
The Choice
Every present choice is a withdrawal or a deposit. The question is not whether you are spending the future—you are. The question is which future you are spending it on.
Sin borrows from the future to produce pleasure now. Righteousness sacrifices now to create life then.
The Shape of the Idea
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.”
Your direction matters more than your position. You are never neutral; every choice tilts the arc. Name the direction, then name the cost of reversing it.
Civilizations travel these arcs over generations. A culture that borrows from its children to fund its appetites has chosen a kingdom—and the bill always arrives.
